Suggestions for jobs and businesses affected by Corona crisis

Hi, I am not a business coach or advisor. I am just a first-year CS undergraduate and I just wanted to share my thoughts and suggestions for small scale jobs and businesses affected by COVID-19. My post is targeted towards people whose jobs have come to a halt during this lockdown period. It is the perfect time for you to relax and enjoy with your family. But of course, you cannot neglect your job completely and with the upcoming global recession where the markets are expected to slow down, you just cannot sit back and watch yourself drowning. To make you financially secure and help you generate a bit of revenue even during these hard times here are some business ideas crafted for you:

1)Investing in long term mutual funds or buying some stocks may be beneficial for you. But keep in mind you must properly choose a good plan with promising returns and must decide how much you want to invest. You must keep in mind that you are enough equipped for the worst possible long run, otherwise instead of gaining something you will end up losing even what you have.

2)Plan something big for your business when the lockdown opens. You remember how you always wanted to climb the next step but lack of time had always haunted you, now is the perfect moment to plan big for your business.

3)Your team can indulge in social media influencing and networking during this period. Associate to large numbers so when the lockdown reopens you will have your audience. If your business does not have a social media handle or you do not have your website then focus on building one. You know in today's world, the internet is the easiest way to attract a crowd and reach out to people.

4)The first way to fight joblessness is to find one job and to find a new job you need to develop a new skill. With information on your fingertips these days, you can easily learn something new which might help you get an edge over others when normalcy restores. You gotta believe me, this is the way to take things to the next level. You can choose from business modeling courses, leadership courses, entrepreneurial courses or other skill-based courses to take things to the next level.

5)There are a lot of businesses that can go online and partially function during these times. With the technology available in today's world do not hesitate to grab the lightest of the straws. Jobs of a  psychiatrist, tutor, analyst, lawyer, and all those who have minimal engagement in solid product selling can be continued online. Try to think of ideas about how you can reach your customers online. If your business is skilled-based then YouTube is the perfect platform to establish yourself as a brand. You can also try blogging about that field of expertise if you have any interest in writing. Believe me, if you have any skillset doing videos, podcasts and blogs can open up new opportunities for you. The establishment would not be instantaneous but who knows, if you are persistent and creative enough you might even end up dealing with millions.

6)Again for skill-based workers, freelancing can open up new opportunities for you. There are a lot of people who make a living out of just freelancing. This will not only help you to earn a few bucks but would also help you ensure enough practice so that your thing does not go bland.

7)This is for the manufacturing or processing businesses. If it will be possible for you to slightly change your process and manufacture the essential goods then you might get a permit from the government to resume your business. For instance, a shoemaking business in the US has modified it's production procedure to produce masks. This will not only help you resume but also fulfill your national duty to fight the COVID-19 crisis. If you are into 3-d printing business or into plastic producing business or steel or bed or anything that can result in producing full products or parts of products like masks, ventilators, etc you should take your shot.

8)Seeking for help. Various banks along with governments have released many schemes to give out efficient loans and online platforms to MSME and other affected industries. Try researching such opportunities available in your country and take maximum benefit from them.

9)Completing your backlogs can be an extremely essential task to carry out. Have a proper statistical look at your market performance and also update your balance and finance sheets. This will give you a lot of clarity about whether things are working in the correct direction or not. You would never get so much free time to properly analyze things ever again.

10)Prepare for the upcoming competition. After things clear out as the economy is expected to show a global recession you might find yourself jobless and as of now, the bearish market can be an uncertain length. So have a proper plan about your finances for the rest of the year and also look for other opportunities that you may consider if anything goes wrong. Proper planning is what it all takes to become financially secure.

11)Encourage and ensure positivity amongst your employees and colleagues. Be considerate to them as you know how much everyone is suffering during these difficult times. Try reaching out to them and stay in touch with them. As a leader and friend, it is your duty to ensure they are doing well enough and are not breaking up.

I am a CSE undergrad at IITB. You might be interested to know why am I writing blogs in fields I have zero knowledge or experience. I wanted to exercise my creativity and exercise my idea muscles. Weird way but it feels good, try to list out 10 ideas or advice, ideas, or suggestion for others. It feels kind of interesting too to write your original content and also have a diversified knowledge of other topics. It hardly takes 2 hours per day. Well, I have my vacations going on so I am planning to give new posts every day. I know no one reads me but still, I want to maintain my professionalism in writing.
