Suggestions for Government and Civic bodies to fight Corona crisis
Amidst the deeply rooted Corona crisis, this world has reached a state where a comeback looks far more uncertain. Still, we must not lose our hope in science and must have an infinite faith for the worst to not happen. Our brothers and sisters are working all round the clock to slow down and stop the monster from expanding. They are our heroes, and what they have done for others while exposing themselves to the risk of death can be never forgotten. Yet everyone must remember that the war is still going on. The right decisions and actions they make or take will protect the whole world.
Now, what can I do? I hope they possess infinite strength, determination, and persistence in these tough times, but the question was what else can I do than moral condolences? Nothing, just wait.
Hello all, I am back here with suggestions for civic bodies and have suggested some actions for them to manage the Corona crisis. My advice is a bit inclined to the Indian context but I have tried my best to present them in a way that can be expanded to any civic structure. If you are reading this please feel free to criticize my suggestions and mention them in the comment section.
1)For every municipal council, they must have a scientific advisor team led by someone who has the scientific knowledge and has been keeping updating himself with the scientific advancements concerning proper sanitation and prevention of the virus and can accordingly help in laying out the plan to carry out the work.
2)An online portal established among different civic bodies corresponding to hotspots regions to share strategies and their implementation and result. A central team can be formed to supervise the coordination among the council and to see if the initiatives taken in one region can help in other regions by identifying statistical patterns in regions which are hotspots or emerging hotspots.
3)What actions we are taking at this step solely depends on the reports by journalists, police and medicine department, the civic body needs to establish a team to have a greater understanding of the progress of the problem and can act as the link between these different teams and can devise proper proceedings of further plans. The body will keep observing the work of police in controlling the crowd and the results of the medical department. This body will have the representation of every department who will report the updates to the body.
4)E-Passes can be distributed online to those engaged in essential services. Verification can be done online and e-passes can be issued without traveling to the police station. This will save a lot of time and workforce for the police department. Handing out e-passes will help in the proper implementation of lockdown.
5)A team for identification of outbreaks in clusters can be formed. The clusters are zones made up of several districts or states. The team has to identify the minimum testing kit requirements of a region and if any surplus in testing kit and PPEs are there, then that can be immediately transferred to regions that are in urgent need. Rapid testing is one of the major strategies to handle out the outbreak and identify potential hotspots that need or may need a large number of testing kits then they can be collected from their respective clusters. The reason is that we need to have 100% testing in hotspots if we want to stop corona from spreading immediately and for that we need a large number of testing kits.
6)We all know that the poor section of the population has been worst affected and we know that it is to be taken care of that no one goes to bed without a meal during this situation. I think an app can be devised so that if a section or community is being missed out then they or whoever is having the knowledge of such communities can report it to the council and the council can devise ways to have them the help reached. Proper awareness among the others must be spread so that their priority should be helping their poor brothers by making them aware that govt is looking after them and they can obtain food and help from the government. This type of app can be maintained state or district wise or district wise so that the block members will be directly responsible and will carry out the necessary actions.
7)The migration crisis is too lethal now. Although it must be strictly ensured that they are contained wherever they are and restrict their movement but it is our responsibility to give temporary shelters and food and water such that they can sustain during these times. The temporary shelters must avoid overcrowding at all sorts and should be better if they have restricted movement. Another important aspect is their mental status. Losing jobs suddenly and not being able to move to their homes can make a huge mental toll among these people and can result in riots in the worst case. So they must be briefed about the crisis in the simplest way possible and they can be assured that they will be looked after and they need to comply with the authorities.
8)All COVID specialized hospitals should report to a center or state panel that keeps the records of the numbers of equipment and testing kits them. The hospitals can directly demand PPES and other medical equipment needed to fight. The council has to ensure that every hospital gets centrally or state wise funded equipment and testing kits, especially in the hotspots. This will help to have a central database of equipment available in each hospital and if any hospital faces an emergency situation of sudden shortage then it can outsource from other hospitals.
Now, what can I do? I hope they possess infinite strength, determination, and persistence in these tough times, but the question was what else can I do than moral condolences? Nothing, just wait.

The danger and gloom that has affected the world, I feel it is the responsibility of the youth to make a positive impact during this crisis situation. You may not possess the scientific knowledge but you can make an impact by your help, ideas, and hope. I hope this world escapes the seemingly worsening doom as soon as possible. Yet again what else can we do than to wait...
